O Urban Buzz acaba de receber a sua prenda de Natal, Javier , um dos artistas mais talentosos da cena soul/r&b concedeu.me uma pequena entrevista durante a qual aproveitei a oportunidade para lhe propôr um desafio que vão poder descobrir a seguir e no qual podem participar com incentivo .
Este é de certo um dos momentos altos da ainda curta vida do urban buzz ..depois de John West ,o convidado de honra dá pelo nome de Javier..


UB:Hey Javier! How are you? What a pleasure it is that I can interview one of my favorite artists, I must confess.

Javier :Thanks man...My pleasure. I'm glad we could make it happen.


UB:In a few words..how do you define yourself as an artist ?


Javier :In a few words... I guess my music is a mixture of R&B, Jazz, Pop, a little latin flavor, and some Acoustic Soul.
I love to break down a song and just perform it with acoustic guitar and vocals.

UB:You have two albums recorded , your first album "javier" ,one of my flavour r&b/soul albums of all time by the way and recently you released "Left of Center " ,a incredible album ,easily one of your best r&b albums released in 06 but not promoted as well as you expected .

Can you tell us the differences between that two albums musically?


Javier :The 1st album, "Javier" was really diverse in that it had all of the styles that I spoke about earlier, the jazz, latin flavor, r&B etc.. all mixed on one CD. I loved having that kind of freedom where I could sing whatever I felt like singing. Its got some of my favorite ballads that I've recorded. That album is very special to me, especially since it was my first.

My second album, "Left Of Center" has some of the same diversity in it but its definitely more on the R&B side of things. We purposely did that to try and focus on one thing at a time. If I could do it again, who knows what we would have done. I love the album the way it is but I might have changed a just few things on it.

UB:Can you tell us what failed with Capitol Records about "Left of Center " promotion ?

Javier:Without getting into it too much, I'll just say that Capitol did not support my 2nd album the way it should have been supported. We fought for more support but were denied it. Why they didn't support it? I feel its because they just lost their fire... their drive to take me to the next level. I'm very happy to say that I was able to get a release from Capitol a few months ago so I am free to bring my music somewhere else. That is exactly what I'm doing now. Hopefully we wont be talking about the same problem a year from now.

UB:Which artists have influenced your music?

Javier:My biggest influences are Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway, Baby Face, Boyz II Men ,all those guys. Also James Taylor is a big influence in many ways. His song writing is incredible and his guitar skills are crazy...

UB: Can we expect to see Javier here in Portugal in 07?

Javier:I would love to come to Portugal. I will go where ever my fans want me to go. If I have fans there, I want to play for them. Hopefully we can make something happen within the next year.

UB: Im sure we will man. Thank you very much for your time ,we really want to see you perform over here next year.
